Being that all of the fruit trees are in nursery rows, the orchard site is open this year. Therefore, we have decided to make use of the ground to grow winter squash and melons. Seen here are the north/south rows of raised beds covered in plastic. There are twelve rows each about 350 feet long. With this much space, we are planning on a winter squash grow out. Robbins and I have pooled our seed and have come up with 65 varieties to trial this year. When the squash plants are well on there way I will include an article listing which varieties we are growing. So stay tuned. It should be really interesting.
